Ashley Goodrich, a certified planning professional with a background in transportation planning, traditional land use, zoning, transit, and grants administration works in the Savannah/Lowcountry region as a Principal Planner. She works within multiple municipal community planning divisions, but primarily at BJWSA (Beaufort Jasper Water & Sewer Authority) where she performs advanced planning, analysis, and research related to implementation of the comprehensive plans and community planning initiatives for Strategic Action Planning or Master Planning Initiatives.

Ashley has spent the last 10 years working as a planner and in other positions in urban areas including Savannah, Georgia; Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; Norfolk, Virginia; LaPlace, St. John the Baptist Parish and New Orleans, Louisiana; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Fayetteville, Arkansas. She brings a range of experience in managing development teams, zoning land use analysis, evaluating transit route performance, operations system development, developing in-depth feasibility studies, district planning and preparing grant applications.

Most recently, Ashley holds a position as an infrastructure planner at BJWSA. She currently works at the Beaufort Jasper Water Sewer Authority. Previously, she was planning manager and bus maintenance analyst coordinator for the Chatham Area Transit in Savannah and principal planner at the Town of Hilton Head Island. During her tenure with the agency CAT in Savannah, she developed a Comprehensive Operations Analysis and a Comprehensive Master Transit Plan, oversaw planning for multiple modes of transportation, and capably managed grant funded programs to ensure compliance with federal regulations.  Prior to working in Savannah, Ashley was employed with Hampton Roads Transit in Norfolk, Virginia where she was responsible for developing and implementing short range service plans, developing cost estimates and reports, coordinating plans with city officials, and working with citizens, interest groups and representatives from other governmental agencies on transit planning projects. In her role as planning manager at St. John the Baptist Parish, she managed development applications for residential and commercial construction, zoning clerks section, and coordinated with code enforcement administration.

Ashley is originally from Northwest Arkansas and has lived in Thunderbolt, Georgia, for several years since returning prior to Covid from graduate school in New Orleans. She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture studies from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning from the University of New Orleans. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, is an allied member of the American Institute of Architects, and also an allied member of the International City Managers Association. She holds a lifetime membership in the Choctaw Nation. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys the outdoor environment especially hot summer weather, and daily walks with her dog, Joss, along the Wilmington River in Thunderbolt.
